Phase VII - Survival Training
In Phase VII, Kappa Leaguers were put to the ultimate test in life-saving skills. Trained by certified instructors, who also happen to be law enforcement officers, Leaguers learned how to effectively use an AED machine and perform CPR in emergency situations.
With emergency medical response times averaging around 8 minutes, every second counts when someone is experiencing a cardiac arrest. AEDs in public areas as part of PAD programs have shown survival rates between 50% and 70%. Additionally, patients shocked by a bystander were significantly more likely to survive to discharge (66.5% vs. 32.7%) compared to those initially shocked by EMS.
The two-year certification ensures that our Leaguers are not only equipped with essential first aid knowledge, but they’re also empowered to take action in critical situations, fostering leadership and responsibility. This training is part of our ongoing commitment to help them become leaders who can step up when it matters most.
The Frat House is also equipped with an AED machine, ensuring that our commitment to safety extends beyond just training, but to preparedness in real-world scenarios.
These skills are a key part of Kappa League’s mission to mold young men who are ready to lead in every aspect of life, from the classroom to emergency situations.
